The Need For Empty Capsules BY Steve Jones

Our modern technological advances have made our lives more comfortable, convenient and flexible. Compared to what were available in the past, we now have more choices when it comes to consumer products. Another example is in the health supplement area, where today we are no longer limited to formulations sold in stores.

It's now possible to make our own supplements by using empty capsules. This is very beneficial to those who are in need of specific doses of nutrients that are not usually found at health stores. By using empty capsules they can have custom-made supplements that match their exact requirements.
To do this you just need to buy a simple capsule filling machine. They are easy to use and very affordable. In just a short time it's possible to fill a hundred capsules with your own mix of ingredients. Making your own supplements using this method can also save you money. Most supplement prices are high due to marketing and distribution costs. But you don't need to pay these high prices if you buy unbranded nutrients directly from the supplier.

Empty capsules are so popular these days that instead of just gelatin capsules, we now have vegetarian capsules as well. Most capsules on the market are made of gelatin. But these aren't suitable for vegans, vegetarians and people of many religious groups.

Gelatin capsules are basically made of processed animal parts such as boiled skin, tendons and bones. Most vegetarian capsules, on the other hand, are made of Agar-agar which is sourced from sea weeds. Other veggie capsules are made from the roots of the Kuzu plant.

The common available sizes of empty capsules are designated by numbers ranging from 00, 0, 1, 2 and 3. The weight content of size "00" is about 735 milligrams while "0" has about 500 mg. Size "1" holds about 400 mg, while size "2" has about 300 mg. The smallest is size "3" with only about 200 mg. The normal vitamin or medicine capsules we buy over at the drugstore are size 2 and 3. The cost of these empty capsules ranges from $14 to more than $100 per hundred pieces, depending on the size of the capsules. Whether they are gelatin or vegetable capsules also affects the price.
